Millennials currently represent the most valuable demographic. People born from 1981 through 1996 are considered part of the millennial generation. Not all marketing campaigns are successfully tailored to this generation. Experts find that millennials simply don’t respond to traditional advertising as much as previous generations did. This is mostly because they don’t trust ads. In order to promote a company to you will have to get creative. Here are some great examples of marketing to this generation.

Personalizing Content

The reason why Netflix managed to find a good way to market their service to millennials is understood what they wanted. One of the best features of this streaming service is that it encourages personalization. By collecting data regarding your preferences, Netflix is able to recommend content specifically tailored to your likes. Another thing they did to attract the millennial generation was creating original content.

Since a lot of great shows and movies have come out exclusively on this streaming platform, many people feel like they’re missing out if they aren’t subscribed to it. Not to mention that they always do clever marketing on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Involving in the Process

Betabrand is a crowdfunding platform and retail clothing company founded in 2005. Their marketing efforts were genius, as they promoted their brand by allowing customers to be involved in developing their product line. Essentially, consumers are able to vote and co-design accessory and clothing ideas and then crowdfund them.

Since millennials are used to sharing their thoughts and opinions online, it makes sense an idea like this would work. Not only does involving them in the process produce better products, but it also gets people excited so they spread the word once the product is manufactured. Customers are able to talk to designers and share their thoughts on each item.

Providing with an Alternative

Sometimes, a new technology which is incredibly easy to market gets developed. A good example of this would be the rise of the vaping industry. Many people would like to quit smoking harmful tobacco, and e-cigarette companies know this. So, they promote their products as a healthier alternative to traditional cigarettes. And the best part is that they’re actually telling the truth. Vaping is much safer than smoking and allows you to regulate your nicotine intake. All successful e-cigarette companies market their products successfully by providing customers with a way to quit smoking once and for all, which most smokers know is very hard to do.

Online Ordering

Some of the biggest pizza chains in the world have increased their number of customers by allowing them to order online. Most small chains simply can’t keep up with the features big brands are including in their marketing efforts. Web ordering promotes the idea that you can take your time when deciding on what you’ll eat, which has proven to be extremely popular among people, and especially millennials. Online ordering has become so popular because it lets you slowly look over all your options instead of having to make a rushed decision on the spot.

Creating Personalized Products

One of the cleverest recent marketing efforts came from Coca-Cola when they introduced their Share a Coke campaign. They came up with a genius idea to put 250 of the most popular names among millennials and teenagers on their products. Many people ended up buying a bottle just because it had their name on it. By putting names on their bottles, they managed to increase their sales by two percent.

Focusing on Convenience

Millennials love , and one of the biggest companies that recognized this is Uber. They provided customers with an incredibly easy way to find a ride and pay for it by using a smartphone app.
